I can't help wondering if Otto tried to hang himself and that's how he got brain damage. Who would blame him.
I bet you wonder about a lot of crazy stuff. Watch yourself.
My DH is an ER doc and said the same. Why should pp "watch" herself?
Easy. It takes a special kind of crazy to "wonder" something like that. I wouldn't be surprised if that PP has some mental health challenges, either diagnosed or undiagnosed.
When an upper middle class student attending UVA gets sentenced to hard labor in a brutal regime like N Korea, yes, I'd consider attempted suicide to be a very likely possibility.
As opposed to a rich student? Or a poor student? "Hard Labor" = Horrific Torture
NP. All the more reason to try to end it all. Prisoners in American jails kill themselves all the time and they're treated far better. We may never know what happened, but even if that is what he did, I definitely wouldn't condemn him for it--quite easy to see how a person would become totally despondent over the idea of being trapped in these conditions for years and try the only method of escape they could think of. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with North Korea either way.
