So it seems like FCPS made the right call yesterday (along with many other area school districts). Good job. I am glad that we seem to be moving in a more reasonable direction with school cancellations/delays.
+1 I appreciate the correct response as well. Hopefully, they will use the same measured approach when deciding what to do for this Friday.
I am sure the bus drivers who were in accidents with a bus full of kids, the kids that had to transfer buses in the middle of traffic, the neighborhoods where buses were unable to pick anyone up, and the poor bus driver who was hurt falling on black ice all agree that it was reasonable and measured.
Yes, accidents happen. Plenty of people not affiliated with FCPS slipped on the snow/ice this past week. Surely you did not expect FCPS to cancel school today, right? Because there is still a ton of slippery ice out there. Or who knows... maybe you want FCPS to cancel school whenever there is any visible ice and snow?
If you're going to make an argument, maybe don't go to the silly extreme to make it. Because that is not what the PP, and others, are saying. But I'm sure you already know that.
I don't know that. There is not much difference in terms of the ice on neighborhood sidewalks and side streets today versus yesterday. People (luckily, only a small minority) were shouting that FCPS should have canceled school yesterday. Same issues exist today (piles of snow at bus stops, ice on sidewalks, very cold, etc), but no one seems to be shouting about FCPS making a mistake for having a normal school day today. What gives?
