They have to make Republicans think McCarthy “won” the negotiations to have any chance of House Republicans voting for it. I’m sure it doesn’t matter what deal McCarthy gets, half of House Republican will never vote for any compromise. McCarthy is weaker than Boehner or Ryan were, and the R Caucus is more delusional than then, so this will end badly. He may not be Speaker for long. [/quote]

That's the bind that Kevin is in.  Any deal that Biden agrees to will be opposed by HFC simply because Biden agreed to it.  So that means he has to broker a deal that will get 50+ Democratic votes in the house.  Unclear if he realizes this or not.  [/quote]

In reality Biden and the moderate dems have negotiated against their own interests. They have made concessions and cuts when they did not have to do anything. This is a total and complete victory for the republicans.

Whatever McCarthy tries will fail. The votes aren’t there. Then Senate Democrats and a dozen Republicans can agree on an deal and McCarthy eventually will have to put that to a vote in the House even if a lot of his caucus oppose it. [/quote]

So are the dems getting deal on immigration and gun control? No they are not. The dems before the negotiations started agreed to cuts. Now it’s just a matter of how much. This is a loss for the dems because they do not understand how to use power and do not understand who they are dealing with. [/quote]
