I actually think this reflects a good instinct -- the desire to be with someone who shares a passion for music and dance, is a fundamentally artistic person. But you can't be JLo and date some regular guy dancer/choreographer. It won't work out. Not just because she's famous but because she's an exhibitionist and loves the limelight -- a mortal is not going to survive in that environment. But this also torpedos her relationship with celebs.

i know who she has dated, which is why i made my point. none of these men are attractive AND accomplished, and, except for a-rod, none is comparable to BA in terms of celebrity. meanwhile, BA has dated several A listers, and could easily date another dozen right now. who is JLO going to date next?[/quote]

like a vast majority of women, she prefers to date someone more accomplished than her. she also wants to date a man who is sought by other women. she needs to show there rest of us that this man chose her, because she is so much more than we are. it's the ultimate proof of her position among women.

I have a different take. Jennifer Lopez has such a tenuous grasp on her self-esteem that she needs to keep going, striving, amassing or else reality will put her in her "proper" place. I believe she really loves Ben and that there absolutely was (is?) an element of 'I can't believe I got him'. She's like someone obnoxiously posting on SM about her perfect marriage and her hot "hubby" but the difference is JL has millions to spend blowing up this narrative for public consumption.

Their union is like a dozen others where I look at the spouse and wonder, How do you stay in that mess? For example, men who set up with Real Housewives or Kardashians. Or women who marry into the enclave of Stoic Male Influencers. Ladies, why?

The difference is that we have access to both sides of this high profile marriage on the skids. Would it help if she took their relationship offline? Probably. Would it help if he didn't emotionally and physically bail when he's too grouchy for too long? Probably.[/quote]
