There is a difference between a medical necessity and a wanted convenience.  I actually "get" how a passenger may miss a flight and need desperately needs to get on the next available flight (maybe they need to get to a sick family member).  If you have booked two seats because you don't feel like holding your book, I can see an airline taking that spare seat back from you to accommodate another passenger.  [b]I can not see an airline expecting people to squish in together and basically share the same seat.  That's nuts.[/b][/quote]
