I'm over whatever girl-breakup went down between Carole/Bethenny. That horse is dead- no need to do a postmortem on it. The thing that sticks with me is how painful it is to watch everyone not acknowledge Dorinda's alcoholism. During the dinner, Luann quietly said 'you're turning', to Dorinda, like in the way a friend would tell a friend she had lipstick on her teeth. Dorinda's inability to hear that and rein in her own behavior and to be so sensitive/feel judged by that simple comment just smacks of what a mean delusional drunk she is. And then she turned. You can be mad someone said something 'mean/judgemental' about you, but when you can't course-correct and you do exactly what they are warning you about, the proof is in the pudding. Dorinda is not ready to acknowledge a problem. I think Bethenny is right that Dorinda never remembers what she did wrong, but the next day she probably wakes up like "I think I should feel guilty about something... I remember doing something... oh well..." She is good at apologizing because that is what you always need to do when you act like that. I found it interesting, that comment about "let's do 21 days together" that she muttered when hugging Luann. I wish Luann could have jumped on that and said "Pick a date. Let's do it. When?" I have this gut feeling that Dorinda was a drunk when Richard was alive and she's still a drunk- I don't have sympathy that she is doing this to cope with that loss.
Dorinda's drunk behavior has not surprised me. What has surprised me is her doubling down on it after watching the shows back. That is some deep, deep delusion.
Agreed. She was on WWHL and still thought she was the victim. She even called out Lou going back to rehab by making a comment about “well we all know how this played out...” She’s a mean drunk and really needs to stop drinking. And I don’t want to hear her blubbering about Richard anymore. They weren’t together very long and he’s been dead longer than they were married.
I'd bet any amount of money, she was drinking when she did WWHL. She needs help. Lu should have very gently followed up on the offer to go away together (maybe she did, who knows?) but i agree that the documentation of this behavior is NOT new and should be enough to curb it in anyone who had control. She clearly does not.
