The thing that sticks with me is how painful it is to watch everyone not acknowledge Dorinda's alcoholism. During the dinner, Luann quietly said 'you're turning', to Dorinda, like in the way a friend would tell a friend she had lipstick on her teeth. Dorinda's inability to hear that and rein in her own behavior and to be so sensitive/feel judged by that simple comment just smacks of what a mean delusional drunk she is. And then she turned.
You can be mad someone said something 'mean/judgemental' about you, but when you can't course-correct and you do exactly what they are warning you about, the proof is in the pudding. Dorinda is not ready to acknowledge a problem. I think Bethenny is right that Dorinda never remembers what she did wrong, but the next day she probably wakes up like "I think I should feel guilty about something... I remember doing something... oh well..." She is good at apologizing because that is what you always need to do when you act like that. I found it interesting, that comment about "let's do 21 days together" that she muttered when hugging Luann. I wish Luann could have jumped on that and said "Pick a date. Let's do it. When?"
I have this gut feeling that Dorinda was a drunk when Richard was alive and she's still a drunk- I don't have sympathy that she is doing this to cope with that loss.
Dorinda's drunk behavior has not surprised me. What has surprised me is her doubling down on it after watching the shows back. That is some deep, deep delusion.
Agreed. She was on WWHL and still thought she was the victim. She even called out Lou going back to rehab by making a comment about “well we all know how this played out...” She’s a mean drunk and really needs to stop drinking. And I don’t want to hear her blubbering about Richard anymore. They weren’t together very long and he’s been dead longer than they were married.

Bethenny is an abuser. She insults and cuts down anyone close to her and attacks them violently if they react to her abuse. She cries like a 5 year old and acts like a victim if anyone calls her out for being horrible. She has to dominate and she has to be allowed to abuse. She says and does things that destroy relationships and like a self centered child, she is stunned that people drop her. She lives in a world where she gets to destroy people, but they have to love her. She doesn't get that it is possible to go too far. It is possible to say and do things that are irreparable.
This is the most histrionic, over the top language and sounds like it belongs in a romance or YA novel. Take it down a notch and someone might see your point of view.
Disagree. The PP is spot on with Bethenny. Watch her in any discussion - she’s like a machine gun just firing words so that no one can get a word in. And she’s downright viscious to people.
What I don't understand from the Carole defenders is the things that Carole has said about Bethenny this season are a lot worse than anything Bethenny said about Carole. That's just fact. The stuff in Carole's blogs was next level terrible.
My opinion is Bethenny typically calls it like it is and is spot on, however her delivery is sometimes over the top. And sometimes telling someone the truth to their face just isn't a good look. The truth can be mean and she comes off looking unkind and unhinged. But honestly, nothing she has ever said has rung untrue to me about any of these women. And that's why she is ratings gold. Because she says the shit we are all thinking.
I’m the PP above you and I’m not a Carole defender. I’m glad she’s leaving. She did say some terrible things about Bethenny in her blogs. But Carole’s 5 blogs don’t make up for the years of Bethenny on tv. Bethenny is a brutal no holds barred person. I think hiding behind - I call it like I see if attitudes - is also pathetic. There’s no two ways around it, Bethenny is a viscious person. She just don’t need to be that mean to other people. And look where it’s gotten her? Now all we are hearing is her crying about being alone. She just has to look in the mirror to see why.

And just in case it wasn't clear before this episode, Bethenny's breakdown that she's never experienced something like this and saying it's like losing a member of her family was too much. What? Does she have amnesia? An entire season of this show revolved around the "devastating" loss of her super close very important friendship with Jill. Did she feel like she wasn't getting enough attention/sympathy lately so she tried to recreate this drama? And she actually did lose her closest relationship and lost a family member when her marriage to her child's father imploded. Bethenny needs to do some introspection. It's a lot.
The difference is she dumped Jill and Jason, for what in her mind at least, were very clear reasons. And even for us viewers, it appeared pretty clear what was going on in both cases.
Carole pretty much dumped Bethenny and Bethenny can't quite figure it out. She didn't want the relationship to end at all.
I honestly don't understand people making the comparison with the Jill situation. Not really the same at all.
Jill dumped Bethenny. Bethenny begged Jill to stay in her life. It wasn’t until Bethenny became settled in her relationship and Jill realized that she was going to be fired, that she wanted to be friends again. At that point Bethenny was done.
