Here is a really interesting take I read in doing some research on the Fuentes movement: I can already feel how much we're going to be talking about groypers in the coming days so I'll say this: - they don't map on a right/left spectrum... throw this idea out - if they did, they would only be considered " on the right" bc groypers are mainly ppl on the far-right for whom Charlie Kirk was not radical enough. if they had become *less radical* they would veer into a more mainstream audience - Charlie Kirk was absolutely far-right but culturally coded as mainstream for a few reasons.. Charlie Kirk's persona, positioning ("debate me" on campuses), plus the mix and scale of content he produced (enabled by the $$ behind Turning Point) meant that all flavors of his content funneled into different audiences on social, based on what would most strongly anger or appeal to any particular individual. Whatever content of his would produce the strongest emotion for *you personally* is what you would see. This is why there's such misalignment on Kirk's ideology & what he represented. So Charlie Kirk coded as mainstream but espoused far-right ideology, but that wasn't enough for Nick Fuentes, who created the groyper movement as a reaction to Turning Point, which he hated for a number of reasons relating to incel culture and Jew-hating conspiracies... all of which goes back to why this group can't be mapped onto a right/left spectrum Think of it more like a frat with its own language and distinct meanings (like the bullet engravings) The ideology is not coherent, it's nihilistic, and very much tied into the male loneliness problem or whatever we're calling it... this is a massive danger in a time of imminently bad economic conditions and a system that is only going to make it harder for people under 40 to make a hopeful future for themselves. The groypers are waiting to welcome all the lost boys who already think women and immigrants and DEI are at fault for their circumstances.
