County does not have the money. Taxes are set to yet again increase in 2026. Fed funds dwindle. We can afford business as usual at our own peril. Or we need to admit the uncomfortable truth that only some will have an education and jobs in the future. It is society wide problem. MoCo is starting to see the symtoms.
Last week, DARCARS donated $230k to pay off some student meal debt and cover more than 80000 meals for MCPS students. I wish more big corporations/charities or rich people donate to MCPS in any forms, and they could gain positive recognition and tax deduction benefits.
Why is it the big charities or corporations' responsibility? MCPS is one of the highest-funded school systems that is being mismanaged. They need a full line by line audit and serious reductions in spending to be utilized to fix the problems. DARCARS sucks. They are a terrible dealership to deal with. They are doing it for PR, not the goodnesss of their hearts.
I don't care much if DARCARS sucks or they do it for PR, I just know that MCPS is poor.
MCPS is far from POOR. MCPS is mismanaged and no accountability or transparency.
And that is the heart of the problem. Instead of calling for accountability, the Wootton haters want MCPS to force a move Wootton families don’t want. There is plenty of money. MCPS can and often does shift priorities.
I highly recommend someone in Wootton neighborhood should start to consider to run for high positions in MCPS, then you can advocate for Wootton directly and internally to cut other budgets to shift priorities. At the end, it is MCPS making the final call and decision.
