[twitter]https://twitter.com/odonnell_r/status/1706679024611709361[/twitter]
Over three years. Not in a year.
Yes. It clearly says that. $1 BILLION over 3 years for non-citizens. Screw the citizens.
Having them housed and not on the street is beneficial to the citizens. Knowing where they are makes it easier for the court to process ( and likely deport) them
Putting them on a bus to Mexico is even more beneficial
Cool. So how do you keep them out? The wall falls over in the breeze? What do you want Trump to do to keep them from coming?
Biden has invited anyone and everyone to come. What else do you need to know?
Biden has not invited them. They are still coming. So what do you want Trump to do to stop them from coming?
We've gone over this 100 times before. Please refer to prior threads. No asylum claims heard for anyone inside the US to start.
There is a massive backlog for hearings because Republicans refuse to provide the funding for more judges and officials to examine asylum claims. Over 80% are not legitimate asylum claims. Nor will they reform the visa program to allow needed workers to legally come and live here and work here on the books. Why won't Republicans provide the funding to expedite, staff up and expel the 80% that are illegitimately here, or help solve any of the other problems? It's almost as though they are going out of their way to worsen the crisis.
*almost* This is the GOP way. All they care about is power. So when they don’t have power, instead of working toward improving our country, they interfere with any progress or positive change for political points and revel in any opportunity to make the democrats look bad instead of doing any meaningful work that helps our country. It’s all about what benefits them.
The craziest new addendum is that Gym Jordan has stated that his first and foremost priority if he is elected to Speaker of the House is to pass a bill that would ELIMINATE FUNDING to process migrants. Wow. Total smooth-brain idiocy. Eliminating funding to process migrants means no funding to DEPORT them, no funding for immigration hearing officials and judges to clear the backlog of asylum claimers (and we already know that 80% plus do not meet the criteria but current laws require that we give them a hearing first) and so on. Jordan's top priority would be to make the migrant crisis EVEN WORSE. Think about this, Republicans. There is no denying the idiocy of one of your top contenders for Speaker of the House.
Depends on what it will look like. If they have access to the country then it’s bad. But if remain in Mexico is revived and people just sit there in tents indefinitely without being processed, then it’s very effective (though they have to lose hope first.. and some will probably stay until 2028 in hopes of a new election).
