I personally think that the fire should've been started by faulty wiring in the house, a curling iron, the dryer... really anything other than a crockpot. It's totally ridiculous- crockpots are very safe. [/quote] The old guy that gave them the crock pot in 1980 said that it had already been used to cook many family meals. Given his & his wife's apparent ages, that makes me think that the crock pot was probably supposed to have been from the 1950s or '60s. Maybe the ones from back then weren't as safe?[/quote]
