I don't see it this way.  The West has only supplied arms, training, information to Ukraine; largely since it's a non-NATO country so direct involvement is difficult.

However, there is a new dynamic on the battlefield that will alter the course of the war, imho.  The coldest part of Winter is yet to come in Ukraine.  Ever been sick with a fever and had to sleep in the snow without heat or a fire to keep you warm?

The rats will be attracted to the Russian front line positions for both food and warmth.  Those heat sources along the front lines will light up Russian positions like a Christmas tree.  The Russians don't have many thermal optics, but the Ukrainians should be well equipped to pick off Russian forward positions - all it takes is one Bradley or M1 rolling up within optical range.  True, Russians still have artillery and planes, but they aren't too accurate compared to Western counterparts.

So what is the Russian military command doing to help their soldiers?  Jacked up soldiers whine less.

Even if cold and disease doesn't cause Russian troops to surrender at key points along the front lines this winter, since (mostly) the Russians refused to collect their dead from the battlefield, those accumulating bodies are now frozen solid.  By spring they will thaw.  See where I'm going with this?
