RE: the brother If he is still in an active status with the Guard, and is a colonel, he may be in the position of squadron/group commander - or may have been on assignment in some far-flung location. It is somewhat understandable he cannot simply walk away from his duties on a moment's notice. Keep in mind his mother was/is reported missing, not dead. What is very unusual is his stiff body language and the fact that he is wearing a baseball cap during this video. Being military, removing your hat/cover is instinctive when in a situation like this. Surprised he kept his on. It seems like his body language/abrupt statement indicates he was not comfortable with doing this video - for whatever reason.
What? He may be uncomfortable because his 84-year-old real mother is missing and could be dead or soon to be dead? Of course he’s uncomfortable. He’s probably not used to doing interviews or being on camera and he probably hasn’t slept or showered in many hours and he’s having to sit there and watch his sister read a very difficult statement.
Agree. A normal person would be very uncomfortable in the circumstance with how much media publicity this has because of the famous sister . No matter how much pain or anguish you’re in and wanting to get your mother back, doesn’t mean you’re going to be comfortable speaking in front of a camera. It doesn’t mean you know something more, it doesn’t mean you think it’s a bad idea, these people are going through an intensely traumatic experience together, and to expect them all to be acting the same, all the siblings, is absurd. May none of you ever have to go through a traumatic experience in the public eye.
+1 And if the brother is particularly shy or uncomfortable with attention, he might especially feel awkward sitting next to his celebrity sister as she speaks so articulately. It is just not his thing to be in the spotlight but as much as SG is obviously destroyed by what is going on (it is gut wrenching to watch her in so much pain) she is extremely accustomed to and comfortable in front of cameras because that is what she does every single day. That the brother appears uncomfortable makes complete sense given the specifics.
