That’s an expensive house for a charter school teacher. Did the sister work?

If he is still in an active status with the Guard, and is a colonel, he may be in the position of squadron/group commander - or may have been on assignment in some far-flung location.
It is somewhat understandable he cannot simply walk away from his duties on a moment's notice. Keep in mind his mother was/is reported missing, not dead.
What is very unusual is his stiff body language and the fact that he is wearing a baseball cap during this video. Being military, removing your hat/cover is instinctive when in a situation like this. Surprised he kept his on.
It seems like his body language/abrupt statement indicates he was not comfortable with doing this video - for whatever reason.
What? He may be uncomfortable because his 84-year-old real mother is missing and could be dead or soon to be dead? Of course he’s uncomfortable. He’s probably not used to doing interviews or being on camera and he probably hasn’t slept or showered in many hours and he’s having to sit there and watch his sister read a very difficult statement.
Agree.
A normal person would be very uncomfortable in the circumstance with how much media publicity this has because of the famous sister . No matter how much pain or anguish you’re in and wanting to get your mother back, doesn’t mean you’re going to be comfortable speaking in front of a camera. It doesn’t mean you know something more, it doesn’t mean you think it’s a bad idea, these people are going through an intensely traumatic experience together, and to expect them all to be acting the same, all the siblings, is absurd. May none of you ever have to go through a traumatic experience in the public eye.

+1 Definitely. A mid-80s woman with heart, blood pressure, insulin, and mobility issues would require a lot of support to live "independently"in a 3000 square foot home.
+1 Even Trump has empathy for a family whose very vulnerable, elderly mother is missing.
But not for the families of people who he’s illegally kidnapped.

+1 it’s gross. Unhinged speculation. Absolute drivel.
It's really disturbing to me how people are treating this situation as a form of participatory entertainment. I know a lot of true crime podcasts are like this too, but I guess I don't follow those closely enough to see this behavior so much. But it feels like a lot of people are looking at this awful situation, which is clearly terrifying for the family, and thinking "Fun! Now I get to play detective! That person over there has facial hair and looks shady -- did he do it? Hee hee hee."
So disturbing.

+2. It’s mentally unwell chronically online misanthropes. I bet the most prolific posters in this thread don’t even live in DC and have zero connections to DC. They spam random forums and Reddit call day with their deranged theories.

Link? Or are you just reporting your opinion.
"Jealous" sister and husband? What are they jealous of?
I've been biting my tongue because of the situation but Savannah Guthrie is really hard to like. I would hate to be the sister of someone who forces herself into the Golden Child costume like her.
That’s just mean. What’s to hate about Savannah Guthrie?
Not the poster you are responding to, but she met her first husband while he was still married to another journalist, and he was not separated from that journalist. Savannah was allegedly well aware he was a married man.
This is just not true at all. I'm in the same circle as her husband and at the time overlapped jobwise. He was single for a while, and his friends were constantly trying to set him up. He may have been officially still married but that was only on paper and from the ex having a scummy lawyer, and it wasn't his decision to end that marriage.
"Officially still married" = still married
Oh come on. The implication of the PP saying that "Savannah was allegedly well aware he was a married man" is NOT that he's a married man 3+ years into divorce proceedings that pre-dated her arrival on the scene.

If you can’t reach your mother, she’s not inside the house, and there’s blood on her porch, I’d immediately dial for help.
I’m not sure if you’re listening to actual news about it or just hanging out on X, but it was reported in those first minutes/hour they were looking around the property thinking she had some medical emergency. They were also calling friends, hospitals,, Etc. (there’s digital evidence to support). There was no reason for them to think she had been abducted! You’re trying to make something out of nothing
My grandparents used to live in AZ, and I was always shocked at how much really wild nature was a lot closer to their house. I know we live with deer, fox, etc close by in the dmv, but this was different. They had multiple cases of animal carcasses in their yard, on their patio, etc. They would not have been the least phased initially by some droplets of blood outside, if that was the only place this was. Also, when I visit my relatives house, I always enter through the side door. It could have been after they called that they even saw this.
Agree with this. I live near Nancy Guthrie and we have a TON of bobcats and coyotes and they kill things and make a mess. Rabbits and other small animals. Every single day, someone posts on next door mourning the loss of their little dog which was snatched from their yard. Usually by coyotes but sometimes by a bird of prey. Sometimes we find clumps of feathers strewn around the yard- obviously something happened. We really don’t think a whole lot of it. Blood droplets would not be all that alarming.
I hate this alarmist crap. There are very few raptors that would take a dog. People around here freak out over vultures which do not kill animals. They eat dead things. It's an important function and reduces disease. It would have to be an eagle to take a dog.
