This could all just be one giant staged temporary distraction to benefit both parties: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/technology/elon-musk-trump-feud.html?unlocked_article_code=1.M08.OPhK.9UorJec0wvOB&smid=url-share
I think this guy got it wrong. Musk is right that you can’t come in and claim that you’re going to cut waste, balance the budget and produce a bill that adds two trillion dollars to the deficit. Musk did a miserable job at DOGE. He was placed as head of doge to pay back the money given to Trump. He’s not really American and knows nothing about how the American government runs. He dangerously cut programs that will devastate part of the country. Both incompetent and are not some kind of dream team.
I’m not buying it. Musk doesn’t care about the deficit. Trump has not changed tactics this was always the plan. Doge was very successful about the real goal of kneecapping regulators and slurping up data. This is just Musk trying to distance himself from Trump because he doesn’t need him, not because of the BBB, to help Tesla sales. I concede maybe Trump isn’t in on the joke? So perhaps that part is real, but it’s not some big idealogical schism.
