The fact that a CR didn't get passed and that we are on the verge of shutting down the government for Christmas and the indefinite future shows that Trump and the GOP do not have any kind of meaningful mandate and if they want to actually solve anything or accomplish anything they need to stop being idiots and demagogues and ideological extremists and drop a lot of their bullshit and actually put in the work, actually reach out and actually try to find some areas of common ground with Democrats and recognize that out of 262 million eligible voters, Trump got 76.9 million votes, or 29%.
It’s simpler than that. Republicans have a majority in the House; they don’t even have to reach out. Then could get a bill House Republicans agreed on and then blamed the Senate and POTUS. But no, they are too chaotic for that’s
Elections have consequences. The next time your party suggests that nominating an elderly person is a great idea, think back to this Trump/Biden mess and say "no thank you".
Equating Trump and Biden is a fools errand.
Two elderly 21st century presidents that were historically unpopular and terrible leaders. I'd day they have a lot in common. Only difference is Trump has zero integrity while Biden has a little. Not equal but they are in a class of awful presidents by themselves.
I would argue that Biden had one of the most consequential presidencies in the modern era. Despite all the right wing BS, he righted the ship after COVID and left the strongest economy in the world; he got substantial green infrastructure investments; started the process of getting manufacturing back and restablished the US as a global leader on foreign policy. Those are all facts.
