Political science major, girl JMU CNU honors GMU honors Gettysburg Mount St. Mary’s honors High Point honors Stetson honors W&M waitlist/January start
If she really likes W&M, I’d go the January start. Otherwise, maybe Gettysburg.
If she really likes W and M, then I think she’ll also like Gettysburg. I think it’s worth it to go there and start in the fall.
Gettysburg isn't nearly as good a school as WM - I'd take the delayed start at WM
OP—can you describe more about your kid’s personality? Bc that will help with differentiating btw Gettysburg Fall vs W&M Spring. My son is going to W&M and my sister went to Gettysburg.
She’s an introvert but has made friends quickly in the various summer programs she has done. She’s into chorus and theater and interested in continuing on some level in college. We both liked Gettysburg a lot but she applied to W&M ED, and in the last week she is solidifying on W&M spring with a London fall semester. I’m a little concerned about the downsides of the spring start, but not sure it really matters what I think anymore LOL. Sounds like a good number of W&M kids do the London program so will not be coming in totally alone anyway.
PP here: As far as personality, it sounds like she would be really happy at W&M. My son is similar and when we attended an ED accepted students event last month, he discovered that so many of the kids he met were just like him. Bright, funny, kind, interesting, and social kids, with a good mix of extroverts and introverts. The theatre and chorus programs are big there, and they just opened a new arts center, dedicated to Alumnae Glenn Close. A really amazing young woman from my son’s high school, is a freshman at W&M. She was the lead in all the plays and musicals in HS, and a leader in the a cappella group, and she is incredibly talented. She chose W&M OOS, and from what I’ve heard (second-hand), she loves it. A friend’s son goes to W&M (also a freshman) and he was a big theater kid in HS and he is so happy there.
