No one knows what is going on. Parents are treated like pocketbooks and teachers throw temper tantrums to refuse to do their jobs.
So glad we took a pass on BFCDS even though it was purportedly the “better” school. It just did t seem that way when we visited. Too much reliance on the campus to sell the school. Murmurs on DCUM made us ask hard questions which went unanswered or poorly so. Dodged a bullet.
Same here, we had the exact same experience. But I understand there are many supporters, we just weren't feeling it at all. I think alot of people go there and ooh and ahh at the campus (which is great!) but don't look much past it. I am shocked that as much as they rely on their campus to promote their school they weren't able to figure out a way to make it happen. They of all schools should have been able to pull it off. We landed at a different school (this was several years ago) and have been been very happy. We have a friend who landed at BFCDS this year from public. I'm not sure they are overly impressed yet......
The school is reopening.
Their plan all along was to reopen in what they called a measured approach. The plan wasn't well received by many, including me, because we felt we had been lead to believe the school would reopen in early September, so when that didn't happen we didn't have faith they would open at all. DL has been amazing (as good as DL can be) and we are actually impressed with the school's reopening plan. Who can argue with a measured approach toward reopening? Our children have been on campus weekly, for short periods of time, and starting next week, that will increase. The teachers have put a mind-boggling amount of work into this, as have leadership, other staff members, and the board. No one is perfect but they are pulling off something really great here and I've never been happier to be wrong.
