Female veteran who now works with crime victims. Trump voter. I don’t think women should be in combat. I 1000% do not think this amoral clown should be SECDEF.
I think one of the things that bothers me most about the pick is that it appears to just be about Trump thumbing his nose at Biden. Hegseth was removed from the National Guard detail for Biden's inauguration due to reports that he held beliefs consistent with January 6th insurectionists (and sensitivity to that was at it's peak in the planning for Biden's inauguration). Hegseth wrote a book in which he claims that he was removed due to his Christian faith (which is laughable -- I guarantee that most if not all of the people who made that decision are devout Christians). So Trump pics Hegseth as a repudiation of all of it -- the concern over J6, the effort to protect Biden at a time when threat of political violence was very high, and the false claim that Hegseth was discriminated against as a Christian. It has absolutely nothing with choosing a SECDEF who will do a good job at the Pentagon. Nothing to do with leadership credentials or even how much he aligns politically with Trump. It's entirely about Trump using this nomination to settle scores. Just like Gaetz. An embarassment.
I agree with your assessment 100% but where was all this appropriate and warranted scrutiny when you people were electing 80 year old unfit people during the past two elections? You think the SECDEF position is deserving of more candidate vetting than POTUS? Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Especially given the fact that you can actually choose not to vote for unfit POTUS candidates where as confirmation of cabinet members is out of voter control.
