What exactly do you mean by capris? True capris that hit just a bit below the knee? Or cropped pants? I agree that no one looks good in true capris. But slightly cropped pants can look very chic. My mom, who is 77 but looks 60, is 5’4 and slim and athletic and lives in a warm climate. She typically wears cropped pants (often with a folded hem) and looks great.
Agree with this! A loose, slightly cropped pant is a very popular look among middle age and older women in Japan and other parts of Asia. I’ve always liked the look and duplicate it often. Looks great with a casual flat sandal, a tank, and a cropped jacket or cardigan. Not trendy or sexy, but easy and classic. I actually agree with OP about true capris that hit right at the widest part of the calf. Especially when the pants are fitted. It chops you off in a very unflattering way, unless you have very slim legs. I’ve noticed in recent years that a lot of people are wearing Capri leggings with detailing (stripes or a mesh panel) at the hem and that’s even worse. I disagree it looks bad on thin women though. Depends on the woman and how she does it, but slender women really can look good in anything. It’s unfair.
