I actually appreciate hearing from people who are at a very different parenting stage, which is something nice about DCUM. When you are stressed about certain parenting things, it's actually useful to hear someone who can say whether or not that issue actually impacted their kids in the long run. But that doesn't work if people don't explain "I raised my kids in the 70s and here is my experience." Sometimes you get posters who have these very militant beliefs about parenting and post repeatedly about it and then it turns out that they raised their kids, say, before the Internet.
