FYI -- went out Wed night to Harris Teeter in Arlington, and while some things were picked over -- nothing was sold out. Canned vegetables, soups, and pasta were picked over but none were totally sold out, you could just tell that other people had been buying those. Oatmeal stocks were low but again not sold out and if you couldn't get your preferred size/style, you could get a bigger box of it or 2 smaller boxes. They must have restocked TP bc even as I was walking into the store, I could see people walking out with the giant packs. They even had Clorox wipes and cans of Lysol -- again not tons but you could definitely get them if you aren't choosy about having certain sizes or certain scents. Didn't look for Purell, doubt they had that. It was around 7-8 pm so the shoppers were the young single/DINK Arlington dwellers mostly. While a few were normal grocery shopping, you could tell most were stocking up. It was interesting that everyone was buying the same things -- canned food, PB, Ramen. Meanwhile I'm thinking -- why not get regular cereal; some frozen meals/veggies; cheese; condiments for when I get bored of my own bland cooking etc. I mean sure it's great to have some PB around, but this isn't an impending hurricane where it's all about shelf stable goods.
But if there's a power loss it might take a long time to be fixed.
