There are so many original movies that were ruined by their unnecessary sequels. Not talking about movies that had planned sequels such as Star Wars and LOTR. I thought the first Matrix movie was great, with an ambiguous ending that led you to speculate about possible outcomes. Same with the first Pirates of the Caribbean, Johnny Depp was great in that, but in the subsequent movies, his character became a caricature of himself, which was a turnoff. The worst is when two characters have their happily ever after, then they make a sequel years later where you learn they broke up shortly after the end of the first movie, but now have a chance to rekindle things. Total letdown.
Hmm. Hello OG Star Wars. Originally Luke and Leia were NOT supposed to be brother and sister. Hence the kiss. Somewhere between Harrison Ford's charisma and a bunch of too complicated plot nonsense about Luke's twin sister, George Lucas decided to retcon the whole plot. I was done after OG Star Wars.
