DC courtrooms are open to the public. There will be multiple cases scheduled for 9:30 so the conference will take place sometime between 9:30-10:30, unless defense asks for a continuance ahead of time. At this conference, the judge will check in with both the govt and defense and set dates for the next set of hearings to check in on things like potential plea negotiations, evidence testing, motions to change bond status, etc..... These hearings will be held every few months and usually last 15 minutes or less, so set your expectations accordingly. Short of a guilty plea, it will take awhile for this to work its way to resolution. [/quote]

The defense doesn't have the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. That said, cross examination of the prosecution's witnesses to undermine their credibility is one way to create reasonable doubt.[/quote]

This. Maybe the defense can poke holes in the testimonies of 3 young children. But what if 4 or 5 come forward? 6? 7? It decreases the chances that this pedophile is released back into the community.[/quote]
