I'm just checking in...has anyone changed their opinion based on any of the previous 39 pages of posts? I didn't think so....carry on!
Yes. I now realize that racism is even more entrenched than I previously thought. Reading through this has been informative.
Agree 100%.
It seems weird that this story would be the tipping point for you. But good for you anyways. Serious question: Are you now seeing that racism is ore entrenched than you previously thought because the perpetrator is a professional white woman from NYC instead of an underemployed white man? or a police officer?
No, my comment was really more about my experience reading the comments here and on other sites. As an African American, it has been really eye opening to read through pages and pages of relatively unfiltered comments, and to see just how hard people will push their own narratives in the face of what to me is clear data and clear conclusions. The actual incident in the park is not surprising to me at all - and that the perpetrator is a professional white woman in NYC mirrors many of my own experiences as a professional in NYC and other Mid-Atlantic cities.
