Not sure I see the controversy. Some kids born in the later portion of the year are not ready for kindergarten at the same time as kids born in the early part of the same year for a variety of reasons. Carries forward if grade, rather than age is the qualifying factor. We "redshirted" our september kid for that reason. I was a November kid who was pushed forward in the old days before parents had much choice in the matter. If it were my choice seeing the positive impact it has had on my kid, I’d have rather been held back too. [/quote]
