Rest assured, it generally doesn't work out in the long run as the older kids are good right now cause they are oner/,ore mature. In time, that evens out, and cream rises to the top no matter age.
Research shows it does hurt youth participation and growth of the sport as kids drop out early as they are tired of getting beaten on by older kids.
Also, it's not like this in Long Island and other hot-beds. Only DMV and the wacky parents down here.
Actually it doesn't work out until the young men go onto college and if kids are leaving due to unfair team setups than it doesn't work out over time. I'm not attacking you but you gotta be stronger and try not to justify your participation in the process. The best high school teams in the area in almost any sport have a large number of holdbacks/reclass or delayed entry students. There's no denying it if you look at most sport's true rankings not done by the Washington Post. The Post tries to be "fair" by representing both publics and privates in order to try and sustain readership. (BTW - it's not working JB)
If the BLC 2025 team has kids on the roster 17 months younger, this means there are kids with 2007 birthdays competing against kids with 2005 birthdays. Because Mater Dei families move all their kids in packs from sport to sport, it creates tough conditions for other BLC players who don't go to school there or who are 17 months younger. Those parents should immediately demand for those kids to move to the B team to get more time or they should seek a different club to play for.
I will disagree about only the DMV being wacky as class based lacrosse is just as much the norm across the country. LI teams go by age-based and they are pretty much the last geographic region holding onto that designation.
BLC Blue 2025 has a lot of huge kids for a 6th grade team so it's appropriate they play in the Hoco's elite division which is known for fielding teams w/ overaged kids. It all evens out eventually in high school where freshman play against seniors but it does stack the deck against on age kids who don't get the coaching, practice and game time they could competing against kids 18 mo older w.in their own club. And Bethesda parents want to win, all the time. I have heard that LI teams thrive against grade-based teams w/ kids older much older than them because LI plays w. skill in moving the ball vs athletic size, speed and other age-based advantages.

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, as long as the kid is in the 2025 grade at school. The teams are based on graduation year.
Yes. Not sure I see the controversy. Some kids born in the later portion of the year are not ready for kindergarten at the same time as kids born in the early part of the same year for a variety of reasons. Carries forward if grade, rather than age is the qualifying factor. We "redshirted" our september kid for that reason. I was a November kid who was pushed forward in the old days before parents had much choice in the matter. If it were my choice seeing the positive impact it has had on my kid, I’d have rather been held back too.

See if the weakest team in the IAC, St Albans, can beat The Heights tomorrow.
Excuse me.... Gonzaga beat both Landon and Prep.... and bullis. I think your score is a bit wrong.
