Getting more people to work in coal mines is also not a great solution imho.

Also, let's be clear:  Clinton wasn't talking about personally WANTING to put the coal industry out of business.  She was just recognizing reality:  in saying that a lot of coal miners were going to lose their jobs, she was just recognizing the reality that coal isn't relied on for energy the way it was 40 years ago because people are relying more on natural gas and renewable sources of energy.  SHE MADE THAT COMMENT ONLY FOR THE POINT THAT THOSE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN!  Her next statement was:   "We're going to make it clear that we don't want to forget those people.  Those people labored in those mines for generations, losing their health, often losing their lives to turn on our lights and power our factories. Now we've got to move away from coal and all the other fossil fuels, but I don't want to move away from the people who did the best they could to produce the energy that we relied on."  And she had a $30 billion dollar plan for job training, infrastructure building, and small business building investment concentrating specifically in coal areas and Appalachia.

So with all due respect, if you think Clinton intended to abandon these people, I don't think your news sources were giving you the right information.[/quote]
