The police have gotten themselves into a chicken and egg situation by devaluating and abusing poor communities, to the point of those [b]communities viewing the cops as being just as bad as the criminals who prey on them.  As a result, poor communities don't trust them and don't cooperate with them.[/b]  The police need to work on improving that relationship, and that will then help toward being able to solving the distrust, improving the culture and getting the violent offenders off the street.[/quote]

Exactly.  The incidents we're seeing on camera these days are nothing new - they're just more visible.  It's pretty clear that law enforcement feels even more threatened by the current environment, which makes them a greater threat to the communites they're policing.

Shifting resposibility to families is a cop out.  My son is in a two-parent home, HHI of $290K, that respects the law.  Chances that he'll be killed by law enforcement or gang violence?  About equal, no matter where we live or what we do.  That prospect should be unacceptable to all Americans, but right now it only matters to BLM.  So.[/quote]
