+1 to all of this.  9 times out of 10 when my child has said something like this it came from someone at school.  These times serve as an opportunity to say "some people think X, but we do not, and it is wrong to judge people based on where they live, what they look like, their abilities, their religion, etc."  We make it very clear that we will not abide such judgmental talk or discriminatory behavior in our house.  You have to lead by example and you can do that by being matter of fact, not by shaming.  You want your child to talk to you so you can share your values - not shut them down with shame or punishment.[/quote]
