I think if we want the word n**** struck from the English language, it should start with black folk setting an example. Reprehensible song, but stop with the double-standard on that word please.
All races/ethnicities take words and phrases that are hurtful and turn them into things that are okay to say amongst themselves but not okay for "others." That word is no different. As an AA, I do not use the word. However, there is a difference if I use the word not in a negative way to another AA than if someone else does it. If all AAs stopped using it, it would still be used. I know that their are slang terms for Jews, Italians, and Latinos. I do not use those words. And it is different if I did than if they did. What I really do not understand is WHY do some whites want to use the n word if AAs use it? What is the double standard? Because it was not hurtful because slaves called each other that name. It was hurtful because of the whole society built around that word. AAs did not create that society.
