OP must have a kid at Beauvoir. It's an open secret that the STA and NCS faculty send their kids to St. Pat's because the education is better.
Wow, what a ridiculous statement. Some NCS/St. Alban's staff do send there children to St. Pat's but QUITE a few send them to Beauvoir as well, in fact the majority. Not all schools are a good fit for the same children or families. Thank goodness there are so many great schools to chose from. It can not be inferred that St. Pat's must be academically superior and that is why cathedral staff send their kids there. There are a ton of other factors. Also, let's be realistic, among the private schools there really isn't that much of an academic distinction between the early childhood programs. I say this as a very happy Beauvoir parent. I feel pretty confident that my child would get a similar academic experience at NPS, St. Pat's, WES, etc. I also think the school rivalry is stupid.
Not ridiculous at all, as I'm am close with quite a few of the lower school faculty and admin. Beauvior alum are weaker students.
New poster here - vitriol like this from St. Pat's families is partly why I think there will be a steep decline in St. Pat's students admitted this year. STA/NCS want a strong community and with St. Pat's parents - especially in recent years- badmouthing their fellow Beauvoir alums so openly and by being exclusive - this does not contribute positively to the community.
Although the quoted post is in poor taste, I'm sure the St. Albans admissions officers have better things to do (and better judgement) than to (a) hang out on DCUM; (b) compile a list of comments in poor taste allegedly coming from parents at another school; and (c) take retribution the next year against children from that school for the alleged bad attitude of the parents at that school. It's really about the kids. What the parents do or don't do doesn't make a difference, as much as we all might like to think that our grace and wit during the admissions process will tip the scales.
I disagree with this, as creating a strong community comes from the families and parents as much as from the students. If you have parents badmouthing their fellow class students, as has been done by St. Pat's families that say very derogative things about the Beauvoir students (before and even after they have been admitted to STA) then yes that would affect the sense of community negatively. Btw you don't have to read DCUM to have heard these things.
