I have a friend named Evelyn and she goes by Evie (like heavy without the H) and I think it's a great nickname. It's pretty much her name though, as no one calls her Evelyn.

I totally disagree. "EV-ee" is a very, very common pronunciation for the nickname of Evelyn the way you're pronouncing it ("EV-uh-lin). If you write it out, people might mispronounce it, but that's not a big deal.
I am sorry but I am the original poster and I have never, ever in my life met anyone named Ev-ee. I have met Eveleyn's whose nicknames were Eve or Eve-ee, but never Ev-ee. Sounds ridiculous to me, sorry. Where do you people live? Is this the hot new name in Bethesda or something?

He-Evelyn and She-Evelyn. But also, they both pronounced Evelyn like this: EVE-a-lynn. Not EH-va-lynn, the way it's commonly pronounced now
