OP, if you want this to happen "next time" then just put your foot down. Keep telling ILs that you can't commit until you know more about the situation, and too bad if they try to change your mind or DH's. Especially since you're going this time, you can use it as a learning experience for everyone. The two of you need to be on the same page and he needs to support you, not just you supporting him.[/quote]
