[/quote] Do you seriously think the only kids we get in ESOL come as young children? I am a high school ESOL teacher and we have gotten two new students this week - both teenagers from El Salvador. If anything, these kids have a bigger challenge because they are older and they are generally less educated kids who come at a young age. Yes, a child who comes at age 5 may only take 1-2 years to learn English, but a teenager who comes at age 17 with a 3rd grade education will probably take 5-6 years at least to become proficient. At Falls Church HS alone, I believe they have over 100 ESOL 1 students (there are 4 levels of ESOL in FCPS).[/quote]
