No, I'm currently fighting them in my basement.  They are [b]HUGE[/b] and look spiderish.  They will jump at you if they see you coming, and even though they can't hurt you, there's something about a critter being willing to jump at a person in self-defense that gives me the creeps!  Thank God they don't make cricket noises or those of us on this board would be totally out of our minds!  But just the same, finding them in your home is at the very least, disturbing!  They're too much of an "animal" to squash like a bug, the noise alone will make you ill.  We've been doing catch and release, but that's a pain, and I don't know where they are coming from, so we're trying to seal off every crack in the basement.

Does anyone know if they go upstairs from basements or just prefer the dark and dank?  I'd hate to think of them elsewhere in my home.  We thought we had jumping spiders and then saw one close up.  We'll be trying some of the solutions you shared here.  Thanks!

Yes, they come upstairs. But they prefer the basements.

I live in Georgetown and have seen them at the top of my basement stairs - basically in my kitchen. That's when I got the exterminator (I'm also the PP).
