Also, make sure that every teeny tiny hole is sealed up. I think they were squeezing in under our old basement door. Haven't seen any lately.
God, they are DISGUSTING. Thank you to the poster who mentioned the holes in the laundry. I thought we had moths, but now I'm guessing it was the crickets. GROSS.

No, I'm currently fighting them in my basement. They are HUGE and look spiderish. They will jump at you if they see you coming, and even though they can't hurt you, there's something about a critter being willing to jump at a person in self-defense that gives me the creeps! Thank God they don't make cricket noises or those of us on this board would be totally out of our minds! But just the same, finding them in your home is at the very least, disturbing! They're too much of an "animal" to squash like a bug, the noise alone will make you ill. We've been doing catch and release, but that's a pain, and I don't know where they are coming from, so we're trying to seal off every crack in the basement.

Does anyone know if they go upstairs from basements or just prefer the dark and dank? I'd hate to think of them elsewhere in my home. We thought we had jumping spiders and then saw one close up. We'll be trying some of the solutions you shared here. Thanks!

Anonymous wrote:Ugh. Yes, ^^^those are silverfish (I call them Silverburgs). They are so hard to kill. Luckily, they don't really turn into "infestation" problems, just seeing them in the tub every so often. I haven't had enough of a problem to need it, but I've heard BORIC ACID helps and it's not toxic to humans or pets (supposedly). They are so creepy! They're flat so you can't really squish them.
