This discussion is so weird. What is the point? Is it just that some people don't have taste (or what you or I think is taste)? That is hardly news. Different strokes for different folks. I always learned that the worst "bad taste" was to tease, taunt and demean someone else because of differences. We're a forum of parents and so many of these posts mock and taunt others for their house style (eagles! pink stone! a neighborhood you don't want to live in!) or where they chose to live (a far out suburb! a close-in new construction nabe!). Guess what, bad taste abounds -- just look at this thread if you had any doubt!
Yeah well guess what...You did not see that house with the eagles did you. Its terrible and it sticks out terribly. Get off your god damn high horse and leave the conversation if you are so outraged.
I love that advocating against mocking someone's home (no matter how tacky and awful you think it is) is considered being on a "god damn high horse." Sounds like you have issues with a lot of things. Here's a thought for when you see something that might not be to your taste: try to imagine the homeowner with the pink house, or the eagles or whatever as just the proud owner of that home. Who knows, maybe that homeowner came to this country and that is their idea of "the American dream." Why don't you just stop mocking and let them enjoy their dream. Choosing to view things this way is the definition of good taste - what you seem to do is the definition of no taste.
Thank you for this post. Can you imagine the outrage if they put out a *gasp* American flag?
