UVA is not the size of UCLA, CAL or Michigan. If you really have a problem getting into a class you want, you simply go see that prof during visiting hours and plead your case. Nine times out of ten they will work it out- and now your kid has a faculty member who might write a letter of recommendation should your kid perform well in said class.
