Those Gonzaga’s are the safest kids in the city. The thugs in the area will make sure nobody harms them because they know law enforcement will tear the neighborhood hood up and PIA if anything happens to them.
, It is true that the Gonzaga boys are viewed as part of the neighborhood and are definitely left alone.
DS is at Gonzaga and I agree with this. Gonzaga is a valued part of the neighborhood, and if anything, the locals look out for the boys. My DS has never had a problem with safety but does take common sense safety precautions. If he’s walking to the metro or otherwise walking around the neighborhood, he always walks in a group. He pays attention to his surroundings and we remind him not to be distracted by his phone, air buds, etc. If he’s leaving campus after dark for a sports practice or a game, we generally try to pick him up or carpool home. Although, he sometimes wants to take metro home from games or events after dark at school and we’ve been okay with that as long as he stays with a group. The campus itself is very secure (security guards and locked iron gates). I know there is crime in the area, but during the day, there is a lot of foot traffic from businesses, restaurants, etc. and I’ve personally walked around the area and never felt unsafe.
