I can think of a few examples of things that work like this in this area, outside of sports. I can see the argument in both directions. I like the way the NVSL works, where the fastest kids across all Divisions advance to IAS vs the top kids from each Division. Would be great if HS swim worked this way too. But I also acknowledge that that means some pools/schools have zero or almost no kids that get the chance to swim at the higher -level meets. [/quote]
