Didn’t everyone have midterms and end of semester stuff ???? At my kid’s Catholic HS, midterm exams are 30% of the semester grade. 2nd quarter ends 2nd week of Dec with midterms 12/15 week. Not even thinking of other apps until those are finished. It worked out fine for older sib., doing additional apps over the 2 week Xmas break. We did not plan any trips.
My kid’s end of term projects/exams are mid December so trying to get essay drafts done this week. College counselor wants them before winter break for review so now is the best time.
DCPS ended Term 1 on Nov 3 and Term 2 doesn’t end until Jan 26. So the challenge was getting Term 1 work done when early applications were due but not a lot now. DC isn’t waiting for the ED decision to finish RD applications. I don’t see how you can wait. The ED is likely week of Dec 15-19 and holiday break starts Dec 19. If you aren’t ready to send apps out immediately, counselors won’t be there to do their part- especially if there is an ED2 letter that needs to get submitted. Many ED2 and RD deadlines pass before they return from break. My DC’s ED is a reach and kid is resisting making a decision whether to ED2 until the decision comes out. That makes sense except for the logistics since there may be no time to make that decision if it all has to happen in a day or 2 before break.
