Why does every thread turn into a Metro vs Paramount thread? How about you guys take this fight on the Metro vs Paramount thread? Believe me: you are the only two who care around here. Stop derailing every thread into Metro / Paramount is evil / great.
Hot take - VA Elite is too expensive and most of their teams aren't really that good. Discuss.
Agree. And DD (U17) has no interest in staying with teammates. VA Elite does at open but does not do well. Other teams in the area will play open and do better at tournaments. I'm excluding paramount and metro from that comment bc in so tired of the droning on of those two teams- they aren't the only path to a good team, a D1 scholarship etc.
Then who do you think the other paths do D1 are? Not challenging but asking fr.
For the most recent graduating class (2025), CHRVA clubs that I can think of off the top of my head that had D1 commits are Metro, Paramount, VAE, VAJRs, MDJRs, MVSA, Blue Ridge, and Liberty Elite. I'm sure there are more that I am missing. A player does not need to be on a team competing for open bids to make it to D1. As long as a player is on a team that goes to a few qualifiers and bigger tournaments where coaches are recruiting, the club isn't a huge factor. College coaches don't generally care much if a player is on a team in Open or a lower division or whether the player's team is winning or losing. For most players, the burden is on them to reach out to college coaches to introduce themselves, send video, and let college coaches know where/when they will be playing and inviting them to come watch them play. Clubs (and paid recruiting services) can help and provide advice in this process, but it is primarily up to player and their family to manage.
