Why does every thread turn into a Metro vs Paramount thread? How about you guys take this fight on the Metro vs Paramount thread? Believe me: you are the only two who care around here. Stop derailing every thread into Metro / Paramount is evil / great.
I think where that post fell short was ALSO citing how or if Va Elite has these same issues. Or analyzing player movement in or out. Though any movement out of elite means they went somewhere, so where and vice versa. Where did the Paramount and Metro players move to and why. More importantly maybe, does it even matter at the oldest ages? What I have not heard said a lot though is that a lot of players moved in to Va Elite. While paramount picked up 12 new players at u18 from somewhere. And it seems proudly took credit when that team of players won the highest best most bigly bid ever out of CHRVA. Can a player enter Elite at a somewhat younger age and be developed to D1 level athletes? In large numbers vs small exceptions. Or is it the same - they are developed elsewhere and come to Elite for various reasons. Though their site says u18 is locked and you can email to inquire but otherwise aren’t looking for new players. Wow.
At least for last year's 18s, the movement in and out of VAE was pretty modest. There were 4 players who left VAE from 17s to 18s and 3 players who joined the 18s for one season. Of the 3 who left, 2 went to Paramount, 1 went to VAJRs, and 1 went to MOJO. Of the 3 who joined VAE at 18s, 2 were from Paramount and 1 was from MDJRs. A significant core of last year's VAE 18s had been with the club for 3 or more years and something like 6 of the 12 players on the team are playing D1 now, so yes it is possible to enter VAE at a young age and develop into a collegiate athlete. That said, last years' VAE 18s were probably the most talented VAE as a group in a while. To me, in terms of talent on the team, they should have been better than Paramount's 18s, but they were not able to win the matches needed to get as far as they should have. They didn't get a bid out of regionals and were not able to get a bid at a qualifier so they ended their season at Louisville tournament in mid April. In general, there are some outstanding individual players on VAE teams every year, but that team was a little deeper than most.
