We get it on road trips because the McDonald’s franchise rules are pretty strict so it is a very predictable meal and bathroom on the road. And there is always one right off the highway and it is quick. I usually get a fruit smoothie and fries so while it’s not great it’s tasty and not the worst thing in the world for you. My son likes the burgers. We will sometimes stop for him on the way back from an out of town soccer tournament or scouting campout when he is ravenous. I think a lot of their customer base is teen boys. My husband ate there daily when he was a teen Div 1 athlete. A lot of their other customer base is actually the elderly who often have trouble cooking for themselves and need fairly cheap meals they can chew easily. So you’ll see a lot of elderly people getting a single party burger and a cup of coffee or something like that. It’s honestly probably not the worst thing they could eat.
Yup. McD replaced a lot of smaller diner etc where it was cheap to get a small meal - toast, coffee, one egg that a lot of elderly and lonely people had and a place to sit down that wasn't their home. The tastee diner in silver spring was always full of white haired people reading the newspaper early weekend mornings, they walked from the retirement home apartments. When it closed, I have no idea where they go now.
