The Telluride has won awards for years as the best mid-sized SUV. When my highlander dies, I am likely getting one. People love it.
It's a great car, but it's a cheap Honda knockoff. We seriously debated getting one before getting our Pilot—but decided Kia's track record of quality wasn't as good as Honda's and that's why there's a price difference.
I mean, if this is how you view cars, then your Honda Pilot is a knockoff of the Ford Explorer, which is a knockoff of the Chevy Suburban, which is a knockoff of a Jeep. Americans made SUVs first.
The extended Ford Expedition is more like the Suburban, but before that, there was the Ford Excursion (larger than the Explorer). Jeep Wagoneer/ Explorer were the pioneers, Suburban in the big size. You're also forgetting the GMC Jimmy, the original Chevy Blazer, Jeep Cherokee, LR Defender & Discovery 1 in the off-road category before SUVs turned into hybrid vehicles for people who wanted the space without having a minivan. Several of these were actually body-on-frame 4x4 vehicles before they became rounded-off crossovers.
