I have to concur this - - I myself see this vehicle often (as well as other Kias) which have made me confused since I always thought of Kias as kinda low-end cars.

But I am seeing a lot more of them then say…even five yrs ago.

I notice the newer vehicles now have a modern, sleek design which may be why they are becoming more popular w/motorists.

Could the sleek new design as well as the newer KIA emblem be simply lipstick 💄 on a pig or do you think these cars are now built better, than say a Honda or a Toyota even??

They are not built well. No they do not surpass Toyota in reliability.

Would never buy one

Toyota or Lexus that’s it

Honda maybe the CRV and Acura have had major engine issues over the years

Hyundai still has 10 year warranty. However, it is not transferable

I am a week into owing a Telluride. I bought a high trim level so it has just about any bell and whistle on this SUV. It drives nice, and time will tell how dependable it will be. The long warranty should cover any repair for several years, and if it turns out to be a headache, then there are other vehicles out there that can be its replacement.

The vast majority of the auto reviews, and owner feedback are very positive for the Telluride. You get a lot of car for the money. I think the quality of Kia products has improved drastically over the years.

My prior car was a GMC Acadia. It was 11 years old when I replaced it with the Telluride and I was sad to see it go. Unfortunately, it was starting to develop some issues and it didn't make sense to invest the money to fix it.

I would have considered another Acadia, however with the recent Acadia redesign, the SUV is vastly underpowered and consequently the engine is very loud on the highway. The Telluride has an appropriately powered engine for the vehicle.

I had a Honda many years ago. This was the only car I ever sold because it stopped running. On this Honda, the coil packs melted into the engine block. The only repair for this was to replace the engine. Given this experience, I have a bitter taste on the "quality" of Honda products, especially since I am very fastidious about car maintenance.

It's a great car, but it's a cheap Honda knockoff. We seriously debated getting one before getting our Pilot—but decided Kia's track record of quality wasn't as good as Honda's and that's why there's a price difference.

I mean, if this is how you view cars, then your Honda Pilot is a knockoff of the Ford Explorer, which is a knockoff of the Chevy Suburban, which is a knockoff of a Jeep. Americans made SUVs first.

The extended Ford Expedition is more like the Suburban, but before that, there was the Ford Excursion (larger than the Explorer). Jeep Wagoneer/ Explorer were the pioneers, Suburban in the big size. You're also forgetting the GMC Jimmy, the original Chevy Blazer, Jeep Cherokee, LR Defender & Discovery 1 in the off-road category before SUVs turned into hybrid vehicles for people who wanted the space without having a minivan. Several of these were actually body-on-frame 4x4 vehicles before they became rounded-off crossovers.

I think you're missing the point!

Good question. If you watch mechanics' channels on YouTube, the answer seems to be, "No," Kias and Hyundais are still not good buys / not mechanically sound. Probably fine if you're just keeping it under the warranty period (which is long) and don't mind having to get it fixed.

I recently had a brand new Kia Venue as a rental car for a few days. It was fine but not too exciting and didn't seem to be equipped with tons of features.

Anonymous wrote:Because Kia offers an amazing warranty - 10 year/100k miles. Name another brand with something that solid. Kia is now a very good brand for the price. It's not the flaky Korean brand from 20 years ago. They did a ton of work to improve the quality and reputation of their brand. The Telluride is a great buy for the price. I remember during the pandemic when demand exploded and used Tellurides went for higher prices than when they were brought for new. Kids are also not as expensive to fix as luxury brands like Mercedes, BMW, etc. People who are affluent tend to be good with money. They look at value for what theyre spending on. The Telluride is good value for the dollar.

You know why Kia offers that warranty, right? Because the cars are POS? Same thing with Hyundai. My husband had one when we met and touted the warranty but when the engine blew at 60k, we saw why.

The lowest end Toyota Highlander is $50K. That's a solid middle class mama car. I thought this thread was going to be about the Highlander or the Tesla.

• Daewoo

Hyundai used to be popular due to their previous 10 yr full warranties.

I personally prefer Hondas since they breakdown a lot less than their American counterparts.
They have a great resell value where Hyundai and Kia vehicles do not resell very well.
