Not surprising! As a Democrat, I dislike the DNC - they consistently make bad decisions and they have crummy leadership.
They do support some important voting rights litigation without which it would be increasingly difficult to win in some states. They are often the lead pocketbook on a lot of those cases. I’m not sure how much they do as far as crafting candidate messages. I don’t think they play much role there.
They should. Someone needs to organize the Dems on messaging. Punchy, short, to-the-point messaging. The Republicans all repeat theirs. Dems on the other hand are all over the map with no consistent or coherent messaging. Anyone who knows anyone at all in Dem politics should be listening to me on this. It's one of their BIGGEST liabilities right now. Republicans eat their lunch on messaging.
Genuinely curious what messaging you would suggest.
For starters: We stand strong against illegal immigration. We stand strong against crime and believe in prison time for violent crimes. We stand strong for all children and will do what's needed to ensure they receive the education and support they need in well run schools with teachers who are dedicated to their profession.
We stand strong against illegal immigration. -simple look at immigration numbers year over year says otherwise -if this were true, then why aren't they at least in part supporting ICE efforts -- it's a simple statement....Dems should come out and state we support the principle behind ICE deportations, but not the current extreme methods/actions. We stand strong against crime and believe in prison time for violent crimes. -how about non-violent crimes? So the guy who broke into my car to steal my property gets off free? -if this were true, where is their messaging? Also, it needs to include standing against all crimes -- punishment to the letter of the law. We stand strong for all children and will do what's needed to ensure they receive the education and support they need in well run schools with teachers who are dedicated to their profession. -is that why you are trying to cut my 8th grade kids advanced algebra class. -if this were true, where is their messaging? Messaging that focuses on getting back to basics of education -- reading, writing, math -- and leaving controversial topics at the door (or at least allowing parents to opt out) These are horrible messages because swing voters (I am one) know they aren’t true. Dems best play is to focus on abortion and Trumps combative personality.
+1 Although if Dems only play is to focus on abortion and being anti-Trump they will lose again. May added comments above in bold.
