Universities no longer provide an education; only indoctrination.
Universities provide education, not home training. When I was a young adult, I certainly made some errors as a new professional, but no one has to tell me that I can't wear the same dress to the office that I wore to the club on Saturday. No one had to teach me how to show up on time. No one had to teach me how to answer the phone like an adult or to at least appear busy out of respect for my job and my boss. My mother made sure I knew these things before sending me off to college. Why are kids not receiving any life skills education at home anymore?
Because their parents are working, sometimes multiple jobs, and trying to juggle the realities of the world as it is now. I got "how to answer the phone" training because we had a family landline phone (and answering machine) growing up. My kids don't answer my cell phone and we haven't had a landline since before the youngest was born. Different technology, different times. "Home training" is a full-time job. Who is supposed to do that work when both parents need to have paying full-time jobs to make ends meet? Wages have stagnated, cost of living continues to skyrocket, and parenting doesn't pay. Who is supposed to be doing that "home training" labor, and when, and with what time and resources?
