My kid just graduated with a bachelors' in computer science. He can write code in C, Java, Python, Javascript and several other languages, he can query data in SQL, OpenCypher and other query languages, he understands algorithms, he understands git and version control and modular programming and cloud and code reuse and best practices, he understands cryptography, machine learning, and many other things. And he and his classmates did all of this while there were Gaza protests and other things going on on campus.
Because guess what? YOU seem to falsely believe that "wokeness" and "DEI" and "pro Hamas protests" and "marxist ideology" everything else are 99% of what goes on on a college campus when in fact the REALITY of it is that it's barely 1% of what goes on on a college campus.

Still, the capitalism of the markets has taken that and created a college for everyone to the point that some of these degrees are no longer certificates of education. They really are participation trophies. I'd be interested to know if the same holds for top 20 schools as for lower tier.
Because they treat the students and their overinvolved parents like customers rather than students. When someone is paying you 10s of thousands per year for a product, the institution (now business) is incentivized to keep the customer happy. So when little Johnny skips his lectures "because of his mental health" and fails his final, he and his parents can throw a fit and get the school to let him retake it. Little Johnny has done this his entire educational career, and expects it to continue in the workforce. Deadlines are mere suggestions, he should get endless second chances, and his comfort is paramount.
Johnny may be president one day.
Hell, Joe Biden graduated 76th out of 85 from SUNY law.

Because their parents are working, sometimes multiple jobs, and trying to juggle the realities of the world as it is now. "Home training" is a full-time job. Who is supposed to do that work when both parents need to have paying full-time jobs to make ends meet? Wages have stagnated, cost of living continues to skyrocket, and parenting doesn't pay. Who is supposed to be doing that "home training" labor, and when, and with what time and resources?
You made a choice to have kids. It's your job to make sure they are prepared for life. That means taking the time to teach them basic life skills even if requires a little extra effort than it used to.
Everything you said is true, but that doesn't mean you just...don't prepare your kids for adulthood.

After graduating, F-1 students are eligible to apply for an Optional Practical Training (OPT) permit which allows them to stay and work in the U.S. for one year and extend it for another two years if their field of study is related to science, technology, engineering or math (STEM).
There is an incentive to hire these international students because Employers save around 8 percent when they hire foreign students or graduates instead
of U.S. workers because they don't have to pay FICA or Medicare taxes under the
